The name of the Somontano refers to the fact that most of the territory is situated in the foothills of the pre-Pyrenean ranges. Its geographical location is strategic, on an axiswhich connects Aragon, Catalonia, Navarra and the Basque Country. It is located 120km. Zaragoza, 230, 300, Barcelona or Pamplona.

The region of Barbastro Somontano has an area of 1,163 km2, has 56 villagesgrouped into 29 municipalities, in which lives a population of 23,613 inhabitants.

Barbastro, the regional capital, concentrated two-thirds of the population (15,000inhabitants), industry, infrastructure and equipment. It has a diversified business and awide range of services.
